My sister Megan sent my kids a fun package of goodies to make our own candy apples. So, this weekend we delved right in. The kids enjoyed making them more than eating them — they weren’t into the mess of them. Ashlyn did a pretty good job of eating hers, but I think I better call the dentist for an appt after doing it. Her teeth were a big caramel mess!
our weekend away
I am just now uploading pics from our camera onto the computer. So, I thought I’d post some pictures from our weekend in Hershey. It was really nice to get away. And, Grammy (Mark’s mom) was a lifesaver (an extremely brave one) to come stay with the kids so we could have 2 days off!
birthday fun
I have a thoughtful hubby who made today a good day. My little sister Erin and her family were here yesterday and today. Last night, she and I did our biyearly children’s sale, a consignment sale we both sell and buy at that is great for good deals and the thrill of the hunt. This morning, Mark went out and got us all good baked goods, we went to community day at our park and got some more good deals from yard sale tables set up, went back to the children’s sale to collect the stuff we were selling that didn’t sell and to buy discounted stuff, and then finished off the day’s fun with a picnic at the playground with Chinese food and a yummy fruit tart dessert. Odd picnic food but very yummy. Mark gave me several gifts–he did very well. One of them was this really cool book of pictures and info about China. He also gave me an amazing set of sheets (800 thread count so they are nice and soft…can’t wait to sleep in them tonight on our new mattress), a gift certificate for a massage (love that!), AND a ticket to see the So You Think You Can Dance show on tour. My sister got a ticket as well for her birthday (2 days ago). So, we’ll a fun girls night out that night! Gotta run enjoy the rest of my birthday…
10 years ago today
On September 26th, 1998, a beautiful warm day in Baltimore, Maryland, I publicly confessed my love and commitment to Mark Raudenbush and pledged to be his wife. Today is the 10th anniversary of that day. Sometimes, it seems like those 10 years have gone by in a flash–so many memories come to mind as I think about the past 10 years and I am reminded that a lot has happened during this time. Dad died when we were only married a year, buying our first house, struggling as we tried to grow our family, 4 times losing a baby, giving birth to our 3 children Evan, Ashlyn, and Drew, buying our second (and final?) house, job changes…they seem like just words when I type them out here. And, I guess they are. But, behind them are rich memories and lots of experiences of God’s goodness to us through good and bad times and our faithful love for each other. Happy anniversary, Mark.
The pictures are of our wedding day, Mark and I posing in August 2008 at the exact spot we met back in August 1997, and Mark and I together this July.
