I’m hosting a giveaway for adoptive moms or waiting adoptive moms. It’s for a cd made up of my adoption music playlist. These songs include encouraging songs for the wait, songs specific to adoption, as well as some songs about parenting in general. These are my personal pics, so many of them are Christian songs. Spring pictures
Schools now do spring pictures…I did not know this. Apparently, the traditional-everybody-has-to-order-them school pictures are in the fall and then they do some nontraditional-cheesy-background pictures in the spring. So, here’s what Evan’s turned out like. :)

and ladybugs were the theme for March. My secret buddy (or not so secret…thanks, Wendi!) was on the ball (despite parenting a newborn!), and I got my package today. Look at all these fun ladybug themed things! So cute. For those of you thinking, “what’s up with the ladybugs?” Ladybugs have become a symbol of Chinese adoption. Apparently, not too long ago, as the international adoption program in China was becoming quite large, there was a fall season where the ladybug population took off. This was thought to be a type of “lucky charm” for those who were adopting little ones from China. Often times, waiting families take hope in seeing a ladybug as a reminder that their time will come for their little one to come home too.
fat tuesday
literally. Yesterday was what we celebrate as donut day. I made homemade donuts in celebration just like my mom always made growing up. She used to make dozens and dozens of these beauties using my great grandmother’s recipe (the same one I used yesterday), and we would take them to our teachers and neighbors. I didn’t make nearly as many. But, I did take some to the contractors working on our basement and to some moms at school and the crossing guard. And, I tried something new–adding chocolate chips to the recipe…as if they weren’t sweet enough when you deep fry the batter and then cover them in cinnamon and sugar. For those of you (like my contractors) who are thinking that my family just made up this holiday to eat yummy treats—Fat Tuesday is always the day before Ash Wednesday when Lent starts. Historically, people would make donuts and pancakes to use up their fat, eggs, and dairy before Lent started the next day. We don’t celebrate Lent, so I’m not too sure why my family always did Fat Tuesday…so, maybe we did do it just to eat yummy treats. Hmmm…
