School is over. Friday was both Evan’s and Ashlyn’s last days. Bittersweet really. Can’t believe that Ashlyn will be in kindergarten next year. Can’t believe Evan will be in 2nd grade. 2nd grade! Crazy. And, now, it’s summertime. I’m happy to give up the morning routine of rush, rush, rush out the door to make it to school on time. That is never fun. But, at the same time, the routine kept things pretty comfortable around here. So, now, lazy mornings and lack of routine…which makes me a bit anxious really. Of course, the fact that I’m on a mega dose of steroids for my vocal cords which are still not healing doesn’t help me one bit.
We celebrated the end of school with a very busy weekend–a church family night at the Wagners (see here for some pics). We took a trip down to the Franklin Institute on Saturday. They have the Star Trek exhibit there right now which is pretty funny really. There were some adults there who looked like they were enjoying it way more than I thought was within normal. Our kids enjoyed it. And, it was fun to be together. We headed back to the Wagners Saturday night for some food, games, and laughs. We had our church annual meeting on Sunday where Mark was voted in as an elder for the first time. Then, Sunday night went to an outdoor worship service across the street from us at the park and enjoyed dessert at they Hytha’s afterwards. Busy, busy, busy!
The first day of summer for us today was actually pretty good. Ashlyn started swimming lessons for the first time. While she was learning to doggy paddle, I swam with the boys. When we were finished, I turned around to find Drew totally buck. I threw a towel at him and said, “Drew! Wrap this around you!” He proceeded to wrap it around his shoulders and walk away towards the locker room–front and back just hanging out for all to see. Good gracious. Pools are a breeding ground for embarrassing moments. (note, no pics)
And, I finished off the night tonight with a Beth Moore study at my house–A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place. The intro session has me all pumped up for some serious study of God’s word. No spiritual vacation for me this summer. No way.

Sweet! I’m pumped about the study. I can tell it’s going to be awesome. I’m tempted to get started with day 1’s homework, but my eyes are burning with tiredness. I think I’ll wait for rested eyes tomorrow!
After 4 straight nights of hanging out, I seriously don’t know what I’m going to do with myself tomorrow! :) Good thing there’s small group on Wednesday! Phew!

Did that study – looooooved it! So excited for you. You’re going to have a great summer. What is up with 3 year old boys wanting to be naked. Bryce has done the same thing – strips down naked in front of strangers. Praise the LORD that HE gave us both one girl;) PS: Haven’t forgotten about the quilt – on my list of things to do. I’m just a dork.
PS:Getting ready to start the new Beth Moore/Kay Arthur/some other chick I’ve never heard of study. Can’t wait!

I heard about the church services they are having in the park. That’s great! Hopefully it will reach lots of people that normally do not attend church.

I love Beth Moore’s Bible studies – so meaty! I wish I lived close enough to join your group! :)
I love to take beginning and end of the year pics of my class – it always amazes me how very much they change!
We are full on summer mode here – we got out May 27! But we will be back in school August 3! UGH!!

Precious “first and last” photos of the kids. We are enjoying hanging out at the pool with and staying up a little later. You’re going to love it.
P.S. Beth Moore was my Sunday School teacher here at First Baptist for a long time. Her class got so big they had to give her her own sanctuary time!
