It was her peace offering to her teachers since she was skipping out of school for 2 weeks. And, it was our peace offering to the school in China who allowed us to bring an 11-year old girl into their classrooms as a teacher.

There are pros and cons for both educational systems. Asians are taught to value education. Often, the children from the slums excel in school as it is a means to get out of poverty. Having migrated to the US as a high school student, I prefer the Asian system.
