For 27 months, I’ve been trying to grow Lydia’s hair out. I’ve trimmed the back several times now, but I’ve never cut the front.
I’ve never cut the front.
While we were in Dallas over the last 5 days for our ETC Train-the-Trainer course and the kids were at Grammy camp, Lydia decided the scissors needed to be tried out on her bangs.
The little bit of bangs that have taken over 2 years to grow.
Yeah, I know it’s a rite of passage. Yeah, I know I did it too, Mom, at about the same age. Blah blah blah.
But, I’m a little upset today about it, and I’m feeling totally entitled to that. Her cuteness isn’t making it any better.
Can’t really even these out so much or cut her hair to help it look like it was meant to be that way. Too short for clippies that she fights anyhow and looks silly with a headband.
Maybe it will be all grown out by the time she leaves Elementary School. (sigh)

this has happened to my kiddos numerous times… and each time I know that I’m way more upset than I should be cause it’s just hair. But still! Currently, Tess has a huge chunk out of the side of her head. No piggies any more.
Lydia is gorgeous no matter! I think the mini bangs are kinda cute on her!

Oh, Lydia, Lydia, Lydia. Say it isn’t so! This post proves it’s possible to cringe and laugh at the same time.
Really though, she’s stinkin’ cute with the mini bangs.
Signing off as I cringe (and laugh) some more.

Oh no!!! Lucky for her she wears it well! They ALL have that one moment of decision that just gets the best of them, right??? (Luckily for me, my Lia just decided to cut her Mulan Barbie’s hair…and let me tell you…when she cut…she took no prisoners…a hairstyling career is NOT in her future…that poor Mulan has been living in shame ever since. We’ll see what Jillian decides to do…)
Sweet photos and (one day!) sweet memories!

My lovely Chinese daughter was about 7 when she decided she did not want bangs. I had just taken her in for a haircut and it was simply adorable. Well, a few days later, I met her and my husband for dinner after my work day was through and it took one look at her to see that she had cut off her bangs…right up to the hairline. My husband did not even notice…I KID YOU NOT!!! It was right before Christmas pics. It took a while to grow out and I still kid her today about taking matters into her own hands. She was much older than your little cutey and I thought we were beyond cutting hair but I guess not. Your daughter is adorable and they will grow.

Aw, I love her little mini-bangs. If I didn’t know better, I’d think they were done on purpose to better show off those precious eyes and cutie-pie face. Hope she knows she just as loved and just as cute as ever!

Got home from work and needed a laugh. Thanks for sharing this story. Love the bangs but it’s that mischievous smile on her face and twinkle in her eye that makes it work!
