See that? Look closely. Closer. Zoom in.
Okay, fine, so you don’t have to zoom in. Whatever.
That’s grey hair. Grey hair that is particularly perky today because the appointment I had last night to cover him up like I’ve kept every 6 weeks for the last….maybe….5 years was cancelled.
I’ve had a coming of age experience. Literally.
And, no, it wasn’t about the money (though I believe Mark is very happy to cut out “covering Kelly’s grey hair” from the budget)
I’ve been overthinking my hair for the last few weeks–why I fuss about the shade, why the grey bothers me in the first place, what I’m hoping for when I color it. And, as my appointment approached, I was forced to make a decision.
And, that I did.
No color.
I’m embracing life for what it is, grey and all. And, right now, I feel pretty good about that.
Feel free to remind me of that in a few weeks if I am going through peroxide and toner withdrawal.
I can do this. Of course, I can. Yes, I can. I can.
I think it’s great that you’re going “natural” again! And I personally think that it’s beautiful when a woman allows herself to “age” gracefully. :)
Do it yourself at home! You don’t have enough that it will be a big deal at all. Matter of fact, you can likely use the Nice N’ Easy root touch up to take care of what you have. I have done it for YEARS myself. Never once has it gone wrong. My hair is so long now that about twice a year I go in & let them do it really well & get it all over & under & such, but the in betweens I handle find at home. Seriously…so simple & SO much less expensive! Good luck with whatever you decide.

My grays are still pluck-able, but won’t be much longer. I’ve thought a lot about whether I want to do the whole dye-my-hair-into-my-60s (like my mother and mom-in-law do) thing, or whether to just embrace the natural.
I’m not sure I believe this!
I know most people will think I am crazy when I say this but what’s new? I adore grey hair! Seriously. It’s a shame I don’t have it yet because I would rock some grey hair! Way to go you!
Oh my this is funny! I’m almost 29. My aunt warned me (I take after her more then my mom) that I would go gray at 28. I have started! I had three hairs I would pluck. Now I have like 12. I haven’t dyed my hair in 6 years and have been pondering it. Your post helps me drop the pride and admit it isn’t the end of the world. Thanks :)
UGH! I have thought often of stopping the coloring…I have way too much gray for someone so young…*wink*
Because my hair is dark, the roots start showing almost as soon as I leave the salon. Seems like such a rip off!
I am proud of you…embrace the gray! (and I am callilng tomorrow to make my appointment! ;)
You go lady! I completely support your decision … as I am another mama who has decided not to cover up the natural aging process that’s called grey hair. And YES, I have it. LOL.
