We have our 1-year post placement visit coming up on March 9th. I can’t believe it has nearly been a year that Lydia has been our daughter. And, her second birthday, her first birthday home with us, is the day after that.
As part of our post placement report that will get sent to China, we need to provide some pictures of Lydia, one of which has to show her with both parents. So, on Saturday, we handed the camera to Ashlyn who was all to eager to take our expensive piece of equipment she usually can’t touch and start pushing buttons like crazy. Honestly, she didn’t do that bad.
Tonight, I can’t stop looking at pictures and I’m just remembering and thinking and thanking God that though this year has been a real challenge as I am in the process of still learning how to parent 4 very different children while also being faithful as a wife and as a daughter of the King, we have come a long way.
He is faithful when I am not. He has a plan for me, one that is perfect and brings Him glory and makes me more like Him, when I can barely see past tomorrow. He is working in this family, through this family, and for this family.
Wow. What a difference a year makes. It’s just so so amazing how much power He has to transform us. And 2 1/2 years later, I still feel so much like you do. Thank you, Kelly, for sharing.

Wow has she grown in such a short time. One can see the contentment on her face and that she feels safe as well as loved.
You and Mark look so very happy.

What great pictures of you all! I can’t get over how little Lydia was. Don’t you love that we don’t have to have it all together!! His mercies are new each morning…and for that I am thankful.
Gracious she looks like a completely different baby! I so hear you on meeting each child where they are and plugging into their unique selves. Tis definitely a challenge. One day at a time I guess, happy 1 year home day!

Wow Kelly, what beautiful pictures of Lydia with you and Mark! Ashlyn did an amazing job. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year – but look at what just one year has done and how much stronger you are. She is just precious Kelly, and so are you and your hubby! Happy almost 1 year!

I love seeing the difference in the pictures. Miss Lydia was literally such a doll baby while in China. So petite, so tiny, so pretty and charming in every way. Now all her 2 yr old spunk has kicked in and she’s is settled and loved! Great pics, Ashlyn!

Sigh. Tears. Love looking at the one year mark, of ours and of anyone else in this big crazy adoption family of ours. So important to mark the moments.
