A year ago right about now, I was crying, heart broken that the baby girl I so wanted to be our Lydia may not be her. We prayed. We prayed specifically and fervently. And, the Lord answered our prayers and showed us that this little peanut who we had seen for the first time at 10pm the night before on January 18th, 2010 and had already started to fall in love with
And, we knew she was going to be our girl. I danced around the dining room and couldn’t stop telling Mark, “We have a daughter…do you know that?” And, we named her Lydia Mei that night.
I had been thinking about yesterday night and today and tomorrow for some time, recognizing that the anniversary was coming up and wondering how to remember it in a significant way. All that went by the wayside, however, because we have been dealing with some seriously sick children. Evan and Ashlyn have been very sick since the weekend and had blood work today to confirm their doctor’s suspicion of mono. Mono. Not what a mommy wants to hear when she is practically already packing suitcases for our trip to Disney World in 9 days. The doctor tried to put me at ease and tell me that given their young ages, they could bounce back in only 7-10 days and be okay for the trip as long as we don’t push them too hard. Praying that they start to show some improvement by the weekend so that we don’t have to make any very hard decisions.

Happy 1 Year, Kelly!! It’s amazing all of the changes that can happen in such a short time, isn’t it. The best part is, that when we let go of the reigns and give God control, He totally sees us through, and in the end, it’s perfect! I know who the other little girl is you referred to, but now I cannot imagine any other Lydia Mei than the cute little peanut you now call daughter!!
Praying for sickness lift in your household, and that no more weapons fashioned against you shall prosper, in Jesus’ name!
Keep packing those bags… I trust that it will still happen! God bless! <>< love,
Tanya

Poor things! I don’t know how it is for children so young, but I know some teenagers who were very sick from it, and had very bad headaches for a while. I hope they are not feeling that way. Praying that they make a speedy recovery. Is there any meds that they give them? I hope that is is not gonna hit our school.

Oh my! Kelly, when you said they had mono, I hadn’t remembered you were headed to Disney! I’ll be praying for a quick recovery! Miss Lydia looks soooo tiny in that first pic. So perfect! I often wonder where Jake has put his 9 pound weight gain. I can’t seem to find it on him anywhere. His ribs stick out so badly still! I guess he’s just one tall guy.

Kelly, you were seeing your precious baby girl for the first time right around the time we were seeing ours! We got the call about Hadley on the 19th and submitted our LOI the very next day, the 20th! So cool :) Doesn’t it boggle your mind that one year ago we only had photos of our girls and now they are home?! Celebrating the milestones with you!
Hope you kiddos get to feeling better!
