I gave into peer pressure. Okay, I admit, I thought it needed a trim too. But, I just did not want to cut it. I was hoping we’d wake up and miraculously the front of her hair would have grown so that we wouldn’t have a mullet any more. But, alas, that did not happen.
So, we did it. Last night, we took her and the rest of the family to get preChristmas hair cuts. In 35 minutes, 4 children and one grown man all got clean cuts–one of which was fully documented on camera. It was her first haircut afterall—well, first hair cut home at least.
Sporting the flyaway mullet, clearly needing a trim (I’m talking about Lydia here…)
Long, flowing locks
This is Lyds’ famous “scared” look. Poor thing.
Apparently not too scared to do some nose picking though. It’s her favorite past time really.
While I look on wincing…
There she is. (sigh) Short hair. They all tried to convince me it was a cute bob. But, it’s just short in the back and very short in the front. Ashlyn wasn’t happy we cut it and told me she looked like a boy. (sigh) At this point, I was feeling a bit sad and regretful and lamenting the loss of pigtails…though the hairdresser assured me we could get some little piggies in there still.
So, today, I’ve gotten over some of the grief of lost locks and realize it was a good move. Poor girl had to wear piggies all the time because her hair looked so ridiculous down. And, pretty soon, we may actually be able to stack the back of her hair and come up with a pretty trendy hair do for this little lady. In the meantime, she’s still cute as the dickens.
Oh it’s so cute ! I have been thinking of getting Maggie’s hair cut, but I love her little pony tail in the back.
She’s the meaning of cute…and adorable! I love it. I like the short hair look. Izabella keeps telling me she needs a hair cut…and she does. And I better do it before she does it herself again.
Merry Christmas Lydia–you look just precious.
Yay! You actually went shorter then I thought with her hair. It will grow in so nicely now just keep getting that back trimmed up till the sides catch up, then you can grow it again if you want. But by then she will have that cute bob and maybe you won’t want to grow it. Don’t worry….there’s no doubt she’s a girl. Adorable!
I agree, She’s adorable. I remember the sinking feeling when we had to cut off Ally’s mullet too. This to shall pass. Actually, her hair really started to grow after that cut. It grew and grew and grew quite long until……..she turned four and I had them cut it in a REALLY short bob. OH MY, it was the cutest cut she ever had! Miss Lydia is simply perfect!
We’re not far behind you in needing a mullet-cut. Glad you took the plunge. It is cuuute and so is she!
Oh Kelly bless your heart! I know everytime my boys got their first hair cut it made them look like they were 32! She looks adorable my friend!
She most definitely does NOT look like a boy. She still looks cute as ever!
It looks great…it will fill out in no time! Feed her some baby formula and it will grow super fast! Stick a bow/flower in it if sissie gets too upset!
Merry Christmas
Donna
Oh Kelly, it will happen. Rachel was bald as bald can be. She didn’t have a shave in China, she was just a bald baby. I thought I would never be able to do piggytails and felt incredibly deprived. But alas, she was sportin’ piggytails today for her Christmas concert at preschool this morning. Lydia is cute as a button…with or without piggytails. You all are such a lovely family.
Merry Christmas! Check out my blog from the beginning when we got Rachel in May, 2008. You will see the bald head.
Blessings,

What a cutie-patutie!
Kelly, she is SUCH a beautiful child!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Kelly,
Lydia is precious! She would be adorable without any hair at all! I remember thinking what if they shave Sophia’s head before we go get her! I was so relieved that she had some hair. We had to get her hair cut when we got home too! It was all uneven like Lydia’s! Now, I just have to hope Piper and Zoe’s hair will not be cut too short before we got to bring them home!!!

One positive of the short hair cut..it keeps Lydia looking “young.” I love Mia’s hair long, but am nostalgic for the days where she still looked like a baby, and not a big girl.
Love the new do! She will have piggies again soon! What a cutie!
Well I think it looks just sweet! But I too have trouble with the first cut. Our poor boys sported LONG wavy curls for up to 18 months. The world thought they were girls.
She simply gorgeous any way you cut it!

Lydia could be bald and still be beautiful :) I think it looks perfect and you did the right thing!
Plus….it will probably be a mullet again really soon..you will probably have to cut it quite a few more times!!
