I love giveaways. I love entering them, and I love winning them. And, I love hosting them. I love giving something to someone just for fun or for some purpose–like some free advertising for something cool.
So, since I am going to need a pick-me-up myself this week, I’m hosting a giveaway. The winner will receive their choice of one of the following–a custom charm from Jiayin Designs (up to a $50 value, may I personally tell you how beautiful these are? Love them! Okay, I’m biased, but they seriously are super cool) or a neat Ethiopian-themed charm and magnet set that I won in a giveaway elsewhere and that I thought might be fun for a family with a little one from Ethiopia joining their family.
These are just some examples of the charms. Check out the custom word charms here and the custom name charms here.
Here’s how you can enter:
1. Go to Jiayin Designs and take a look around. Leave a comment here sharing which item you like best.
2. Go to We Are Grafted In–the adoption site Mark and I are administrators for–and take a look around. Leave a comment there responding to any of the posts. There are some good ones, so don’t rush. I am so blessed by the articles posted there. You won’t get any bonus entries for checking out the forum. But, I do want to point out that there is a forum there with some amazing members, a community of folks really worth being a part of.
3. Leave a comment here with a topic you’d like addressed in an article posted on We Are Grafted In. I have so enjoyed finding pieces to post there, but they have been ones that have touched me. I want to know what readers are most interested in reading. Feel free to make suggestions of specific authors who you think would fit the site well.
4. Blog about this giveaway, Jiayin Designs, and/or We Are Grafted In for an entry.
5. Add a link to Jiayin Designs and/or We Are Grafted In in your facebook status to get the word out for another entry.
6. Send me flowers or send Mark a gold medal for 5 entries. (Kidding. Don’t do this. Our 2 silly cats would probably eat the flowers and then promptly throw them up, creating even more work for my poor dear husband this week.)
So, that’s 5 possible ways to enter. Do one, or do all 5. Up to you!
I’ll let people enter up until Tuesday night the 19th. We’ll pick a winner on the 20th, assuming all are well and I don’t have carpal tunnel from “talking” too much this week.

How cool Kelly! I probably shouldn’t be in the running for the drawing since you have already so heartfully donated a pendant to the Rippee Silent Auction coming up … but … I want to get the word out for We Are Grafted In if I can, so I will blog in the next few days … and besides I would like to request an article if you have one or have anything to say about it. Why does it seem that God speaks to women’s hearts first when it comes to adoption … and husbands tend to see/hear it later, maybe even after YEARS of praying by their wives. Ooooo, that would be a good article especially if it had Biblical references that showed how and why this would be. It’s incredible to know that God has formed our hearts differently than our counterparts … but it’s frustrating too. (And I’m not just speaking for myself, but just in general. How many families consider adoption … but never actually move on it because there isn’t full agreement between the spouses. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents on a topic.
Blessings!
Valerie

so, funny me, I just realized the Kelly on “grafted in” and you, Kelly are the same : ) Anyway, fun sight- I love the freestyle “Mama” the best. I love that word in any language. Okay, thats one entry. I really want that ET necklace so I am going to enter as many times as I can!

I’m off the spread the word. I posted about We Are Grafted in recently, so I’ll blog about Jiayin this time! And….I am going to order that headband tomorrow!!! LOVE it!!
You can count on me for all 5…..between now and tomorrow!
Jenna says
OK, so my favorite charm is the big sister charm (one I’ll be purchasing for Chloe for sure!) I also would love a custom name charm with Cooper’s name on it!
As for post ideas for WAGI…..attachment. Of course, that’s what I’m thinking about 24/7 right now. And, considering that I had some fears, I’d love to hear other’s “fear moments” and how God met them there and helped them to overcome it!
When I think of more, I’ll let you know!!!

I love them all! I especially love the custom name charms for our kids…a link to their past to be proud of. And the province charms are a great keepsake as well!
I will spread the word!

As for the topics for your very needed and valuable website. What about how to pray when one spouse wants to adopt and one does not. I know many struggle with this. I think we have chatted about this before on our yahoo group, but I would love to chat more.
Also, I would also like to discuss the possibility of birth parents marking their kids with tattoos in the hopes of finding them again. How do we explain these marks to our kids in a way that they feel loved by their ‘marking’ and that it never is seen as something negative….I don;t know how many people this would affect. I have only heard of a few kids….Miah does have a questionable mongolian spot that the Dr’s do not think is a spot at all, but rather a marking.

I like the word daughter, either free style or in the box. I have a prayer box on a chain around my neck that I have been wearing since we started this process. It would fit right in with it until I can pass it on to my daughter.
Topics on the forum, umm, grief and loss? I haven’t seen much advice on this out there, just that it happens.
I’ll let you know when I blog about We are Grafted In. Does already responding to a post on WAGI count, or do I need to have a new thought?
Praying for a speedy recovery!
The Lacher's says
Hi Kelly! I have been praying for you today and hope your recovery goes well. With 4 kids, being silent will be quite the challenge!
I’ve been thinking about WAGI posts and I would be interested in various perspectives on families made up of both bio and adopted kids. Even though our love for our kids is the same regardless of how they entered our families, there are different parenting strategies, not to mention all the external “stuff” that can mold our childrens’ views if we don’t help them through it.
I have secretly been wanting a Jiayin charm for a while. I really like the enclosed Mama one but I would have to decide between that and our daughter’s Chinese name (once we know it that is!)
Cedar says
Hi! I blogged about WAGI
http://joyfulmamagivesin.blogspot.com/2010/10/we-are-grafted-in-blog-and-forum.html
and left a comment on the WAGI blog, so I’m up to four entries. :)
Hope you are having an okay Wednesday even with no voice.

Kelly, love, love , love giveaways!!! We need to talk because I have some exciting news to share! can you guess what it is?? I looked at those gorgeous charms and I would pick mama in freestyle even cooler if I could get it framed in a circle!
Cedar says
Okay, I got brave a posted a link on my facebook page, even though I almost never update my status on Facebook. However, I do have a few friends on facebook that have adopted, so I gave it a shot. It really would be great if more people would share on the forum. I am learning so much.
Hope the percocet doesn’t make you too loopy–I used it after each of my babies and it made me insane.
It may look like I just really, really want to win the give away, but it is also about helping you get the word out about WAGI.

I love the freestyle daughter charm. We’re hoping to find out who our precious daughter will be in the next few months.
I’m about to head over to We Are Grafted in and check it out. I’ve recently been giving a lot of thought to birth moms and how to incorporate them into your lives when you know nothing about them.

I would love the smaller enclosed rectangle charm of our daughters name…I would love to wear it to China as well…how special!!!!
Jennifer says
I would also love to see a post about what to do/how to handle when one spouse feels called to adopt and the other does not…we personally experienced a true miracle about this very subject and what a testimony to God’s faithfulness to finish what He started in my heart and to equip us for things we never thought possible!!

linking on my fb page to we are grafted in…:)thanks again

I love the enclosed Mama pendant and the “righteousness” pendant. As a Christian, I have found it fun to be able to wear pretty jewelry(which my daughter loves) and as a cancer survivor to share my story when somebody asks about it.
Would be proud to wear this jewelry. Beautiful.

Kelly.
I have posted both on my facebook and my blog
Something that I have looked for information on is eating issues with adopted kids. Caroline has gotten much better but she came home obsessed with food. I know she had spent many hungry night in China and that was a big part of the problem but I would love to hear about anybody else with the same issuer.
katrina says
I love the “mama” charm. It reminds me of the main purpose of the adoption.

I just ordered two of the tiger head hats. I have been wanting one of these since you posted sweet Lydia in one a while ago. Of course I love the custom name charms too and will be ordering one for Izabella some day soon..I LOVE the new circle ones!!!
I will be giving one of the hats to Izabella’s pre-school along with a few other items I need to still gather to use for their “culture themed month” dress up area for the kids. They wanted to do a chinese outfit but had nothing to do it with. This hat is PERFECT for that–and I love that it has tradition and folklore story to share with the kids too.
The other is for Izabella! She LOVES hats and MUST have one that is traditionally from her birth country. So excited to get them.

Kelly–I am working on a post about “what’s in a name?” Izabella has been expressing some interesting thoughts and feelings about the name we gave her and her chinese name. I’d love to address get this topic out there. I don’t see much about it and would like to know what other adoptees are feeling about the multiple name issue as it relates to who their sense of identity.

Check out Jiayin Designs and pick a favorite? Check. (I love the encircled charm and I’m trying to figure out a way to customize it with Amharic characters!)
Go to We Are Grafted In website and comment? Check. (Loved the site!)
Find a new topic idea for We Are Grafted In? Check-kind of. (I don’t really have any ideas that weren’t effectively covered, but I love A Bushel and a Peck–she might be a great resource if you aren’t using her already as an author!)
Blog about the giveaway? Relunctantly Check. (It’s not that I didn’t want to…but then it’s harder for me to win!) =)
Link on Facebook? Check.
Easiest 5 entries ever =))
Thanks for doing this!

I would love to have a charm with our daughter’s name on it (she is waiting for us in China). It would be something I could give to her later and wear during the wait.
Glad to have found We are Grafted In. I just checked it out and it looks great!
Thanks for the giveaway.

OK, for one more entry, I looked around Jiayin designs again and still like the name charms best.

OH! I have wanted a charm for so long!
My favorite charm is Mama, enclosed. *love it*.
I commented on WAGI. I would love to see an article on loss and grief as well. I also would love an article on the reluctant spouse.
I hope you are feeling better tomorrow. I will be praying for you dear friend. I can only imagine how tough it is to have no voice.

Hey Kelly – OK….I think I’ve entered 4 times now?
I’ve said hello (finally) on the Grafted In site and commented! YAY!
I’d LOVE to have one of the Mama pendants so that when we pick up our new son, Kaleb, who will be 6 yrs old by the time we are in China that he will be able to see that I am his Mama every time he looks at me and sees the pendant!!
I’ve linked you up on my FB profile and….
Would enjoy reading more about older child adoptions as that’s where we’re headed with our adoption to Kaleb!! :)
So…please enter me for your giveaway, pretty please??!! :)

I just found your blog. I love all the charms. Maybe the Daughter one the best. : )

Me again..I also just left a comment over at WAGI (great site!) and I think I would like to read some posts about older adoption stories that were very successful. It seems like there are always bumpy road stories to read about, and those are helpful, but it is good to hear the happy ones too.
