I was going to take a picture of the last remaining link on our paper chain. But, we have the memory card reader packed already. So, no pictures on this post.

For over 5 years now, I’ve followed other families’ blogs of their trips to China. I’ve cried looking at Gotcha Day pictures and videos. I’ve marveled at the transformation of the children going from orphan to a beloved child in a day. And, now, I’m the one going. In a few days, we will meet our daughter for the first time. It’s hard to believe. I’ve had butterflies all day–not sure why exactly. I have just been overwhelmed by the magnitude of what is about to happen. And, my heart has been heavy over leaving 3 deeply loved children at home for so long (don’t worry–they will be spoiled rotten while we are gone by their grandparents. I have to keep telling myself that.).
China, here we come. Lydia, praying that God is preparing you now for the transition happening on Sunday.

  5. So excited for you all Kelly, we have been following your adoption journey; you’ve detailed it very well! Think of the butterflies you get when your due date comes near, you know it’s going to happen, you know it’s going to be wonderful, it’s just amazing anticipation.

    We look forward to meeting Lydia (you know, one day, when we eventually make it back to PA from this journey around the US!).

    Our China trip will overlap as we leave April 2! We are flying into GZ late afternoon on Wednesday the 7th. We’ll be staying at the Victory.

    Have fun, and enjoy yourselves, and sweet Lydia! She’s such a blessed little girl to be raised in your home with the big brothers and sister she has.

  17. You’re off–and YOUR time is at your feet–it’s really happening–sooo amazing! Praise God! I can not wait to see the miracles God has in store for you along your journey. Surely He will amazes you every step of the way! Praying for smooth travel and smooth transistion for little Lydia and you as you adapt to your beautiful new family of 6!

    Prayin’ for the kiddos at home too–and for you that your heart doesn’t ache too badly for them and you can focus on the new little one for a couple weeks. :)

  19. like I said last night. My pregnancy emotions are already feeling like this is all too much…but then I bet I would be like this anyway! I CANNOT wait to read more on here over then next 2 weeks. We love Lydia SO MUCH and cannot wait to meet her. While we wait I will try to explain to Bohdan that just because Lydia comes home, does not mean Thatcher will not be coming. LOL. LOVE YOU!
