When did the 100th day of school become a holiday? I tried googling it to find out but only found a TON of activities, worksheets, party ideas and favors, etc. focused on the day. Whenever it became a noteworthy day was after I was through school. I was deprived I guess. Not only did Evan have a project in which he was to do something with 100 things (as you can see, he and I constructed an army fort out of 100 Q-tips), he also made a necklace out of 100 fruit loops, had to do school work in 100 seconds, and other fun 100 themed stuff.
In my effort to find the history of the holiday, I even found this link to a song written to commemorate the day. If I were in school, I think I’d celebrate the 90th day–isn’t that the halfway point? But, I guess that’s not really the point.

Thank you for your sweet comment on our blog. Your Ashlyn is adorable! We really do not hear that name very often either (kinda nice!!) I will enjoy following your journey. Have a great weekend.

Funny. The boys and I know another “100th day of school song”. Learned it from one of their favorite websites, starfall.com. I wondered if it wasn’t a holiday or something. I never knew when it was. Uhhhh, maybe on the 100th day of school?? Duh!
HA!
